Undoubtedly, we all are aware of the important use of ICT and how we incorporate it in school especially in our teaching career as a teacher. ICT comes in all sorts of ways, for example would be when setting up an online homework quiz for the students during long term holiday. Setting up class blog for their class activities, which they found very interactive as blogging is very flexible ad they can post what their thoughts on their own phase.
Back in Temasek Polytechnic, we uses Blackboard mostly and some teacher uses WIKI to connect and send any form of instructions regardless of being announcements matter or assignments. Nowadays, even secondary schools have incorporate ICT in their learning for example during their long term holiday, teachers would give them an E-learning via their school portal and some do introduced the used of BLOG to their students to engage in discussion and post comments even to post any relevant information so they can share with entire classmate.
During my internship programme back when I was still a student of Temasek Polytechnic, I was assigned to go to Temasek Secondary School. I am not quite sure on the technology used but during their music lesson, they incorporate their music skills using software and start practising from there.
Though I am not exposed to a variety of ICT technology used during that time, I believe nowadays almost every school in Singapore integrate the use of ICT in their learning and teaching aspects and is improving day by day as technology become the main fundamental assets in our lives.
K: What I already KNOW?
Simple ways on how wiki works.
W: What I WANT TO LEARN?
I hope I would be able to learn different approaches of using ICT in my teaching career and be familiar with each one of them.
L: What I LEARNED this week?
I learned using wiki portal efficiently and mindmeister, the online mind map, which I found very interesting as I didn't know it would be really simple to follow.
Q: What QUESTIONS I still have?
Is it essential to buy a textbook for this course? When using an online tool as interactive programme for an assignments, how do we cite and reference them in order to avoid plagiarism?
Hi Shima,
ReplyDeleteI have given my answer about the textbook in class.
As for the referencing of online tools, can you give me an example? Or are you referring to online references?

ReplyDeleteHi Dr Tan,
ReplyDeleteYes, Thank you for mentioning about the textbook in class just now.
For the online tool, i was actually referring to something like online games and activities, that may sometimes be useful for teaching. Or is it a case that we just have to set up our own online games and activities?
Shima
No, you can reference them using APA format. Here is an online tool that might help: http://citationmachine.net/index2.php?start=&reqstyleid=2#
ReplyDeleteYou will need to select one of the non-print media options.
The tool is not perfect, but it helps get the job done.
Thank you Dr Tan. The online tool does help and its pretty easy to use as well. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
