Video Games Reflection

The last games that we tried out was at Station 3 (flash online games) and Station 4(Wii sports games)

Station 3 covers the curriculum based learning. This is because It includes subjects that kids have in school and from this game it helps enhance their knowledge and thinking on the subject related. For example the game we played is the “word meaning” where we have to guess the meaning of a word from the multiple choices. At first, we did individually but eventually we did together and cooperate in order to get the correct answer. With this game, it engages the students and students get to learn from their peers.

Station 4 is game based learning using Wii. What I notice from this game is a cooperation aspect where when two players are playing, they help each other in terms of coordination and the person who is waiting for their turn tends to help out the players so they will not lose. Although it seems as a competition games but when the game is on, it can be seen coordination between students do take place.

Station 1: Complexity (do many things all at the same time) and context (to solve problem, by creating a Malaysia coming to catch)

Station 2: Competition vs Communication and cooperation/collaboration

Station 3: Curriculum and Content – drill oriented especially math and science, how to help in

curriculum.

Station 4: Cardio and coordination

Station 5: consuming some content (Youtube video) emphasize the themes, record video that illustrate teaching and learning. Observation, learn through personal observation; learn through mistakes that people do. Finding clues to find. Do not know what to expect, thus we explore.
